Serving our community

As followers of Jesus we believe in having a deep commitment to our community. We partner with other churches in the community, and are a core partner of a community-based organization called Viva Uptown. Below are some of the examples of services we provide in the community through Viva and independently. This is our way to show in a concrete way the love of Christ in our community, and to bring hope to families that are in need. We hope you can join us!

PATHWAY MENTORING PROGRAM

Through Viva Uptown, we partner with a local high school and a middle school to mentor youth. Mentors invest their time in relationship and be a positive influence in the life of a student building up their character, hope, and skills. This is crucial as many kids in our neighborhood come from under-resourced and/or broken families. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please email Grace at grace@churchoftheheights.com

UPTOWN GO GREEN

Many years at Thanksgiving, we partner with a local school, P.S. 048 to provide healthy foods for hundreds of families.   Raffles and prizes, kids games and crafts, laughing, also mark the special day, where along with meeting urgent basic needs, something more happens too -- connection and community, conversation and prayer, and invitation. BACKPACK DRIVE & TOY DRIVE

In the back-to-school season, we provide necessary school supplies to hundreds of kids at our host school, P.S. 048. We also invite the families to our Christmas service where kids receive a toy gift for Christmas. To get updates about volunteering for the event, please fill out our connection card.
